Q ENERGY powers up Cahuzac solar park

Vicky DoeBy Vicky DoeApril 22, 20262 Mins Read

Q ENERGY has inaugurated its 8500KW Cahuzac-sur-Adour solar park in France’s Occitanie region..

Q ENERGY said the project converts a former quarry classed as an ICPE site that was used for grinding, crushing and screening between 1993 and 2019.

The company said 14,500 panels installed across 7.5 hectares now supply renewable energy to nearly 5,000 people and avoid around 2,600 tonnes of CO? each year.

Q ENERGY said the Cahuzac project is its first in the Gers department and adds to 12 solar parks and 14 wind farms it has developed or built in Occitanie.

Maud Gaide, solar director at Q ENERGY, said: “This project was led in an exemplary manner by the teams at Q Energy. Collaboration with local elected officials enabled the development of a solar farm that is well integrated into its territory and whose economic benefits will enable local authorities to carry out projects and investments.”

The company said the project includes ecological measures such as wildlife-friendly fencing, amphibian barriers, hedge planting and hibernacula for reptiles, amphibians and insects.

Véronique Sauzay, regional solar manager at Q ENERGY, said: “The entire team working on this project was committed to developing a project that is consistent with environmental protection values. It is important that our green electricity production projects respect the natural characteristics of the sites on which they are located and enhance their ecological value.”
