Burges Salmon has been appointed to support the development of the 1500MW Gwynt Glas Floating wind farm in the Celtic Sea.
The firm said the project is set to become one of the first commercial scale floating offshore wind farms in England and Wales.
The appointment is led by partner Julian Boswall and director Jen Ashwell from the Planning and Compulsory Purchase team, alongside real estate partner Tom Perret, according to Burges Salmon.
The firm said it will advise on all consenting and real estate matters.
EDF power solutions and ESB have entered into a partnership to develop the project, working with DP Energy’s Pembrokeshire based team, according to the companies.
The partners said Gwynt Glas has the potential to deliver up to 1.5GW of low carbon generating capacity.
They said the project underlines the UK’s position as a leading market for floating offshore wind.
The partnership said it signed an Agreement for Lease with The Crown Estate after achieving preferred bidder status in June 2025.
Julian Boswall said: “We’re delighted to have been appointed by Gwynt Glas to support this nationally significant infrastructure project, which will bring immense environmental, social and economic benefits – supporting coastal communities and creating long-term opportunities for the region. Our appointment reflects Burges Salmon’s strong track record in advising on complex and innovative infrastructure projects across our multi-disciplinary team, particularly within the offshore wind industry.”
Burges Salmon said its Planning and Real Estate teams are market-leaders in the consenting and delivery of nationally significant infrastructure projects.
The firm said the team acts for public and private sector clients through the whole development consent process.
