The Port of Rotterdam Authority plans to develop a 45-hectare site in the north-western corner of the Maasvlakte for offshore wind activities.
The authority said the terminal will offer storage, transport, pre-assembly and delivery of components and is expected to be operational in mid-2029.
It added that interested parties should register for the market consultation starting today.
The Port Authority will equip the site with 835 metres of quay for offshore wind installation vessels.
It said the quay will be suitable for jack-up vessels and pre-assembly activities and will include a roll-on/roll-off facility.
The terminal will also be equipped for decommissioning activities.
The authority said the project aims to provide the offshore wind industry with necessary capacity as North Sea build-out increases.
It added that required port capacity at the right specifications is currently a limiting factor.
Matthijs van Doorn, vice president commercial of the Port of Rotterdam Authority, said: “With this new terminal, we are making an important contribution to the necessary capacity for the offshore wind sector.”
He said: “Due to its direct location on the North Sea, deep draught and existing offshore cluster, the port of Rotterdam is ideally suited for these activities.”
